Is combined Twitch and Kick chat allowed on Twitch?
Not while you stream on Twitch and Kick at the same time. Twitch’s Terms of Service say that during a simulcast you may not use third-party services that combine activity from other platforms on your Twitch stream, such as merging chat. Here is the rule word for word, and what it means for a Layrs chat. This isn’t legal advice.

What Twitch’s Terms say
Section 11 of Twitch’s Terms of Service (last modified 12 August 2026, checked 5 November 2026) lets you simulcast, that is, stream live on Twitch and another platform at once, only if you follow three Simulcast Guidelines:
- Twitch viewers get an experience at least as good as on the other platforms, including how you engage with them in chat.
- You don’t link to, or otherwise send your community to, your stream on the other platform.
- “You do not use third-party services that combine activity from other platforms or services on your Twitch stream during your Simulcast, such as merging chat or other features, to ensure the Twitch community is included in the entirety of the experience of your livestream.”
The last one is the combined chat rule. Merged chat is its example, but it speaks of activity from other platforms and “other features”, so Kick alerts shown on the stream you send to Twitch likely fall under the same line.
When the rule applies
- Live on Twitch and Kick at the same time: it applies. Keep Kick chat and Kick activity off the stream you send to Twitch.
- Live on one platform at a time: section 11 sets out what you must follow when you stream on Twitch and another service simultaneously, so it doesn’t cover a night on Twitch and the next night on Kick.
- Reading chat yourself: our reading: the rule is about what’s on your Twitch stream, and a chat in an OBS dock sits in the OBS window, not in the stream, so viewers never see it. Reacting to Kick chat out loud still reaches your Twitch stream.
You may read that Twitch no longer enforces the merged chat rule. Its Terms still include the rule (the version above), so go by the Terms. Twitch can change them, so read section 11 again before you go live on both.
How Layrs shows Twitch and Kick chat
Sign in to Layrs with Twitch and with Kick, and a Layrs chat source shows both chats in one list. Once chat comes from both, Kick chatters get a small green K in front of their name, so you can tell them apart. Kick follows, subs, gifted subs and KICKs play in the same alert boxes as Twitch’s, and so do Kick channel point redemptions once you switch them on.
A chat source or alert box can’t be set to one platform yet, and neither can the other Layrs sources that show stream events. While you simulcast to Twitch, leave every Layrs source that shows chat or stream events off the stream you send to Twitch: chat, alert boxes, Recent events, goals, subathon timers and leaderboards that count Kick events, emote combos, giveaways and polls that Kick chat can join, text that shows {latest…} or {count…}, and custom widgets that read chat or events.
The same goes for Media share, which takes requests from Kick chat and Kick rewards, and for chat bot commands with a sound, video or ; action: Kick viewers can fire them too, and they play through any Layrs overlay open in OBS, so turn those off while you simulcast.
Kick mods can change your overlays from Kick chat too: ;deaths 23, ;hide webcam, ;subathon +10m, and, if they’re on your Layrs team, @layrstv requests. While you simulcast, switch off Smart commands under Built in on Layrs’ chat bot page (this turns them off for Twitch mods too), and ask your team to send @layrstv requests from Twitch chat only.
We read tips as not Kick activity: they come from your Layrs tip page, not from Kick. Anyone can tip, though, Kick viewers included, and Layrs can’t tell them apart.
Read each platform’s own chat in a dock instead: here’s how to add a chat dock.
What Layrs doesn’t do
- No YouTube or TikTok chat or events: Layrs works with Twitch and Kick only.
- No restreaming: Layrs doesn’t send your video anywhere. OBS, or the service you stream through, does that; Layrs is a Browser source inside it.
- No platform switch on a chat or alert box yet, as above.
FAQ
Is combined chat against Twitch’s rules?
While you simulcast, yes. Twitch’s Terms of Service forbid third-party services that combine activity from other platforms on your Twitch stream during a simulcast, such as merging chat.
Can I simulcast on Twitch and Kick?
Twitch’s Terms allow it if Twitch viewers get as good an experience, you don’t send them to the other platform, and you don’t merge other platforms’ activity into your Twitch stream. Kick has rules of its own.
Can I read both chats while I simulcast?
Our reading: the rule is about what’s on your Twitch stream, and an OBS dock sits in the OBS window, not in your stream, so viewers never see it. Reacting to Kick chat out loud still reaches your Twitch stream.
Does Layrs show YouTube or TikTok chat?
No. Layrs works with Twitch and Kick.
Is this legal advice?
No. It quotes Twitch’s Terms as of 5 November 2026. Twitch can change them, so check section 11 before you go live on both.
