Leaving StreamElements before December 31, 2026

On July 31, 2026, Razer announced it had acquired StreamElements’ assets. StreamElements says your existing SEPay balance can be withdrawn until 31 December 2026, and that StreamElements keeps running.

Move overlays and tips

You do not have to leave. The steps below are for moving overlays and tips to Layrs, a free overlay editor for Twitch and Kick that runs in the browser. There is no Pro tier.

  1. Withdraw your SEPay balance

In StreamElements, withdraw the existing balance before 31 December 2026. The Acquisition FAQ says: “Your existing SEPay balance can be withdrawn until 31 December 2026.” The SE.Pay and Stripe FAQ says to use the existing withdraw button, and that the balance does not transfer to Stripe on its own. Can’t find the withdraw button? Contact StreamElements support. If the date passes with money still there, that FAQ says: “If you missed the withdrawal deadline, please contact StreamElements support for assistance with your remaining balance.”

  2. Import your overlays and chat bot

Sign in to Layrs. On Home, click Import and open From StreamElements. In StreamElements, open Account, then Channels, then Show secrets, and copy the JWT. Paste it into the box and click Import overlays. Each StreamElements overlay becomes a Layrs scene, and your chat bot commands and timers are added to the Layrs chat bot. Layrs sends the token to StreamElements for that one import: it is not saved and not written to logs. The JWT opens your StreamElements account, so keep it off stream.

  3. Check what came over

The dialog lists each new scene with Open, then what Came over, what was Simplified, what it Couldn’t map, and Commands and timers not saved (a command name you already use, for example). Open each scene and check it. Videos come in paused: press play when you want them on stream. A custom widget that isn’t in an overlay? Open StreamElements widget in the same dialog, paste its HTML, CSS, JS and Fields tabs or drop the widget .zip, then click Import as source.

  4. Set up a new tip method

In Layrs, open Donations. Connect Stripe for cards and wallets, or PayPal, or both. The money goes straight to your own account: Layrs never holds it. Layrs keeps 3% of Stripe tips. PayPal tips have no Layrs fee. Stripe and PayPal charge their own fees. You can design the page first, with no account. Staying on StreamElements for tips is still an option: their FAQ says to connect PayPal, and card tips through your own Stripe.

  5. Update your OBS browser sources

Open the scene in Layrs and click Add to OBS, then copy the link. In OBS, select the Browser source that still points at StreamElements, paste the Layrs link over the old URL, set the width and height Layrs shows, and click OK. A new Browser source works the same way. How browser sources work. OBS and sharing.

  6. Tell viewers the new tip link

On Donations, under Share your tip link, copy your layrs.tv/tip/ link and put it where the old StreamElements tip link was. A Twitch panel is the usual place. Click Add !tip to your chat bot so !tip answers with the link, then Send a test tip and watch it in OBS. A test never counts toward goals.

What StreamElements says

Checked 3 November 2026. Razer’s newsroom announced the acquisition on July 31, 2026. The Acquisition FAQ says StreamElements “will continue to operate as a standalone platform”, that no migration is required, and that overlays, alerts, the chatbot, tipping pages, SE.Live and sponsorships “will continue without interruption.”

The deadline is for the old wallet. The SE.Pay and Stripe FAQ says: “The legacy SE.Pay can no longer receive tips and will be completely discontinued on December 31, 2026. Make sure to withdraw your remaining balance before this date.” PayPal tips carry on, and card tips now go through your own Stripe account. The Acquisition FAQ writes the name as SEPay.

What Layrs imports, and what it does not

Import from StreamElements reads the overlays on your account (up to 40) and your chat bot. Each overlay keeps its canvas size, and each layer its position, size, rotation and layer order. The images, sounds and videos those overlays use are copied into your Layrs uploads; a file that can’t be copied stays a link. What an imported widget receives.

  • Comes over: the alert box (follows, subs, resubs, gift subs, bits, tips, raids and channel point rewards, with their text, images and sounds), goals, chat, recent events, labels, images, videos, countdowns and custom widgets. Custom widgets keep their HTML, CSS, JS, fields and saved Data, including {{field}} placeholders, onWidgetLoad, onEventReceived and onSessionUpdate. Chat bot commands that reply with text, and timers.
  • Simplified: alert animations become the closest Layrs motion. Goals count this stream, starting from the number copied over. Chat keeps its colors and text size; the rest of the look is Layrs’. Videos come in paused. Groups become layers that move together. Super mods count as moderators and regulars as subscribers, and a loyalty cost on a command is dropped. The dialog lists each one.
  • Does not come over: spin wheels, credits, sponsor banners, tip jars, StreamElements polls, song requests, emote walls and loyalty widgets. Host, merch and charity alerts. StreamElements’ own built-in commands, and commands that only watch for keywords. Chat variables Layrs doesn’t fill in show in chat as written, and the dialog names them.
  • In custom widgets: tips from your Layrs tip page arrive as tip-latest. SE_API.store, cheerFilter and getOverlayStatus work. sanitize and setField exist, but sanitize passes the message through unfiltered, and setField only changes the running copy. There is no shared alert queue: SE_API.resumeQueue() does nothing, and every widget gets each event right away. SE_API.counters reads 0. Calls to the StreamElements API fail, because Layrs never gives a widget your SE token. Merch, store and charity events do not exist here. Imported code runs in a sandbox, away from your account.

For anything that didn’t come over, start from a Layrs source: the alert box also covers channel point rewards, and goals, polls and a subathon timer are built in. Layrs and StreamElements side by side.

FAQ

Is StreamElements shutting down?

No. Its Acquisition FAQ says it will continue as a standalone platform under a Razer subsidiary, and that no migration is required. Overlays, alerts, the chatbot, tipping pages, SE.Live and sponsorships continue. What has a deadline is the existing SEPay balance: withdraw it by 31 December 2026.

When do I have to withdraw?

StreamElements says the existing SEPay balance can be withdrawn until 31 December 2026. The SE.Pay FAQ says the legacy wallet can no longer receive tips and will be discontinued on that date, and to use the existing withdraw button. If you miss it, that FAQ says to contact StreamElements support about the remaining balance.

Does my SEPay balance move to Layrs or to Stripe?

No. StreamElements says there is no automatic transfer. Withdraw it in StreamElements. New tips on Layrs go straight to your own Stripe or PayPal account. Layrs never holds them.

Can I keep taking tips on StreamElements?

Yes. The Acquisition FAQ says to connect a PayPal account to keep earning tips. The SE.Pay FAQ says PayPal tipping stays, and that card tips go through your own Stripe account. Legacy SE.Pay itself can no longer receive tips.

What does the importer bring across?

Each overlay (up to 40) becomes a scene, with the alert box, goals, chat, recent events, labels, images, videos and custom widgets where they were, plus your chat bot commands and timers. Spin wheels, credits, sponsor banners, tip jars, polls, song requests, emote walls and loyalty widgets don’t come over, and the import lists what it left out. You can also import a single custom widget.

Is Layrs free?

Yes. There is no Pro tier. The one fee is 3% on tips paid through Stripe. PayPal tips have no Layrs fee.

Import your overlays and connect tips

Free, in your browser. Sign in, click Import on Home and choose From StreamElements, then connect Stripe or PayPal under Donations.
