A death counter in OBS your mods update from chat
To add a death counter to OBS, make a Counter in Layrs and add its link as a Browser source. Then your mods type ;deaths +1 in Twitch or Kick chat and the number on stream goes up. There’s no script to install in OBS.

Add the counter
Make a counter
Sign in to Layrs with Twitch or Kick, click New source and pick Counter. It already says Deaths: 0.
Say what it counts
In Text,
{n}is the number: keepDeaths: {n}or write💀 {n}orWipes: {n}. Mid-game already? Set Start at.Copy the link
Click Add to OBS and copy the link.
Add it as a Browser source
In OBS, click + under Sources, pick Browser, paste the link into URL and set it to 560 × 130.
Place it and lock it
Drag it to a corner, then click the padlock so it stays put.
Already have a scene in Layrs? You don’t need a Counter: write “Deaths: 0” in any Text or Blank design and chat commands find it by the word next to the number.
Your mods update it from chat
| Type in chat | What happens |
|---|---|
;deaths 23 | Deaths: 22 becomes Deaths: 23 |
;deaths +1, ;deaths -1 | One more, or one less |
;death | One more, the quick way |
;kills 4 deaths 1 | Several numbers at once |
;undo | Takes back your own last change, when two mods counted the same death |
The streamer and the channel’s mods can use them, in Twitch or Kick chat. Plurals and typos are fine, so ;died counts too, and !deaths 23 works as well. Every change shows in History under the mod’s name. A counter a manager locked doesn’t change from chat, and managers can switch chat commands off on the Chat bot page.
Commands reach counters on overlays that are open in OBS or the Layrs editor. Prefer buttons? Mods also get +1, −1 and Reset in Controls in Layrs. Every chat command.
The count stays between streams
The number is saved on Layrs’ server, not in OBS. Closing OBS, restarting your PC or a week offline doesn’t touch it, and neither does Reset session in Controls. It changes only when someone sets it, or presses Reset on the counter, which goes back to Start at.
What viewers can do
Viewers can’t change the count: Layrs only listens to the streamer and mods. And Layrs never answers a bare !deaths, since that’s how viewers ask other chat bots for the number, so your other bot keeps that job.
Want chat to count? Make a Layrs chat bot command like !died and, under On the overlay, have it run ;death.
