Set up a BRB scene for IRL streams
On an IRL stream the signal will drop: a tunnel, a crowded street, a dead spot. A good BRB scene keeps viewers around. It says you’ll be right back, keeps chat moving on screen and shows the goal they’re chasing.
Build the BRB screen in Layrs
Make a scene called BRB
Sign in to Layrs, click New scene and pick Blank. Rename it BRB.
Add the Be right back text
Click Add widget, pick Text and type Be right back. Give it a 7TV paint if you like.
Add chat
Add widget → Chat, so viewers keep talking to each other while you’re gone.
Add your goal or subathon timer
Add widget → Goal or Subathon timer, so the stream still has a pulse.
Add a background
In the same menu, click Upload image, GIF or video and add a photo or clip of where you are.
Add it to OBS
Make a BRB scene in OBS
Click + under Scenes and call it BRB.
Add the Browser source
In the BRB scene, click + under Sources and pick Browser. Paste the link from Add to OBS in Layrs and set it to 1920 × 1080.
Let it switch by itself
Point your relay’s auto-switch at the BRB scene. With IRLHost Link (free, no subscription), OBS switches to your BRB scene when the signal gets weak, and back when it returns.
Streaming from IRLHost Studio, the cloud OBS? Add the same Browser source there. Layrs is made by the team behind IRLHost.
Or keep BRB inside your main overlay
Rather not switch scenes? Put the Be right back text on your main Layrs scene and hide it. When you drop, a mod types ;show brb in Twitch chat, and ;hide brb when you’re back.
Test it before you go out
Open the BRB scene in OBS, then click Test → Chat message in Layrs to see chat on it. Tests never change your goals or your subathon clock, so try as often as you like.
FAQ
Does Layrs switch to BRB by itself?
No. OBS or your relay switches scenes; the free IRLHost Link app does it for you. Layrs makes what the BRB scene shows.
Does it work on Kick?
Yes. Chat, goals and the subathon timer work with Kick. Smart commands like ;show brb are typed in Twitch chat.
